Blood Mt.

Awesome view from the top of Blood Mt- highest point in Georgia on the AT. Grueling, warm day! More details to follow:










I had a really tough day hiking today. Keith handled it really well though. I think I probably overdid it some yesterday, and then it was very warm again. We passed a young couple as we were headed up the toughest hill, and she was crying, and I thought about sitting down and joining in, but feared acquiring a new trail name (crybaby) Out last climb of the day was to the top of Blood Mt., and I have to admit I was doing a lot of praying at this point. About that time, I met an older gentleman, very friendly, who asked how I was doing, and told me his trail name was Pastor John. He had thru-hiked the AT before, and assured me I was almost to the top. I am convinced that Pastor John was an answer to prayer. That really kept me going. We were rewarded with incredible views at the top. Karrie and Brian, who we had camped with is for two nights, were headed home after their week of hiking, and were hiking to their car at Neel's Gap, where we also were to get our first mail drop. They offered to take us into Blairsville for dinner. I decided that once again, we were being blessed, and declared them our trail angels, and headed for a hotel room for the night, and the most incredible BBQ place, Rib Country, where we ordered the feast for two. When it arrived, it could have easily fed four!
We also got to visit Mountain Crossings, where we picked up our mail drop and posed where the AT passes through the only building on the trail.
