Well, it's a lot warmer here than we anticipated, and so there's a lot of these tiny biting gnats on the trail. Unfortunately, we didn't pack bug repellant because we weren't expecting bugs til warmer months. Luckily, we did have our head nets packed, so at least for supper tonight, we kept those on. Today the hikers on the trail really thinned out, since a lot of them have been spring breakers. We only saw about 6 other hikers today. We met an older man named Captain Guts. Some of the trail names are quite amusing - Wonderland, Gaitor Bait, Turtle, to name a few. I know there will be many more to come. We did a pretty steady 11.5 miles today, stopping at a piped spring to get water, and we've started changing into dry socks twice a day. We have been lucky with weather, with it only raining during the night. So far, nothing but blue skies! We wouldn't mind cooler temps though, because with no leaves on the trees yet, there's no shade. Right now we are in our tent on top of Rocky Mountain, and almost had the campsite to ourselves, but a young hiker named Matt just showed up in the dark. The mountain top has gorgeous views and cell service. Below is this evening's sunset.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. We enjoy reading them. Haven't been able to reply til I reached a real computer. We are having a great time. The bugs seem to be thinning out as we go father north. We are hopeful to leave them behind soon, but know they get bad again further north. Cooler weather would clear them out, I'm sure. Brian and Karrie, we miss hiking with you. To Glenlock Baptist Church, you folks were the best! Thanks for feeding us, praying with us, and for our treat bags! I really needed that lip balm!!!
